🧃 Low-Energy Life Hacks for Days You Just Can’t

2–3 minutes

Some days, it’s just… hard.

Maybe your brain feels foggy.
Maybe your body is tired for reasons you can’t fully explain.
Or maybe the weight of the world — uni, work, expectations, mental health — just feels too much today.

If you’re neurodivergent, you’ve probably had these days more than most.
Days when “just do it” isn’t helpful, and adulting feels like an Olympic event you didn’t sign up for.

You’re not alone. And you’re not lazy.

Here are a few gentle, low-energy life hacks I come back to when everything feels too heavy — especially for neurodivergent young adults navigating the wild ride of growing up, figuring life out, and still needing space to rest.

1. Break it into Micro-Steps

Instead of “clean the kitchen,” try:

  • Put one plate in the sink
  • Throw out that one empty wrapper
  • Wipe one surface

When the big task feels overwhelming, zoom in as close as you need.
Each small win counts.

2. Use the Two-Minute Rule

If it takes less than two minutes, try doing it now:

  • Send the text
  • Throw the clothes in the basket
  • Drink some water

Sometimes doing one tiny thing builds just enough momentum to keep going — and if not, that’s okay too.

3. Alternate Tasks

Pair an “active” task with a “passive” one.
Examples:

  • Fold clothes while listening to music
  • Wash a dish, sit down and scroll, wash another
  • Stretch while watching a YouTube video

Your energy is valid. You don’t need to earn rest.

4. Prep One Area for Rest

If the whole house feels chaotic, start with one corner — your bed, a chair, a little nook with soft lighting and a blanket.

You don’t have to reset your whole environment.
Just create a tiny space where your nervous system can exhale.

5. Start with Sensory Support

Sometimes regulation comes before productivity.
Try:

  • Noise-cancelling headphones
  • A weighted blanket or hoodie
  • A scent you love (essential oil, lip balm, lotion)
  • A warm drink or chewy snack

Supporting your senses = supporting your brain.

💬 Final Thought

You don’t need to do everything to be worthy.

Your worth isn’t based on how much you got done today — especially when your nervous system is tired.

These little hacks are here to help you work with your brain, not against it.
And if today’s only win was brushing your teeth or getting out of bed — that counts too.

You’re doing better than you think.
